Winter trip to Russia China border city

Many of us have never seen snow and even fewer of us ever visited a place that is really cold. This is about my trip to the coldest place that I ever visited. The orange mark on map is the place. Siberia and north east of China are known for extreme cold weather in winter months. Raohe ( 饶河县) is a city of far eastern Heilongjiang province, People’s Republic of China, bordering Russia’s Khabarovsk Krai and Primorsky Krai to the east. That day temperature was at -30 C. You can see the frozen river half of it in China and remaining in Russia. Visitors can go on the river with snow vehicles. It’s snow all around. It’s fun but we need to cover well. Local people go about their normal life with schools and shops open. I saw some children even playing basketball on school ground. Farming is the main profession in this area and is restricted only during summer months. Most convenient route is by flight from Beijing to Jiamusi (佳木斯) and travel by bus to Raohe.
